How it decides
Each answer gives weight to one of the editor's suitability ratings for every telescope - the Moon, planets, deep sky, astrophotography, city skies, portability, beginners and schools. A telescope rated "not suitable" for something you want to see is never suggested, and an advanced instrument is never suggested to a beginner. Made in Pakistan telescopes come first when two fit equally well.
No percentages: the ratings are editorial judgements, not measurements.
