What can you see?
Through the eyepiece with this aperture - not processed astrophotography.
- The Moon Excellent Very fine detail, limited mostly by the steadiness of the air rather than by the telescope. High magnification becomes usable on good nights.
- Jupiter Excellent Festoons, knots and fine structure in the belts on nights of steady air.
- Saturn Excellent Finer ring detail and the shadow the planet casts on its rings.
- Mars Excellent More surface markings and occasional clouds near a close approach. Far from one, Mars is a tiny disc in any telescope.

A manual Dobsonian: no motors and no batteries. It will not track an object on its own - you nudge it every minute or so at high power.

The tube is 1.2 m long and the crate is about 20 kg. Check your car and your doorway before ordering.
Frequently asked questions
How is this different from the 6-inch RVision?
The 8-inch collects about 1.8 times as much light. On the Moon and the planets the difference is modest; on galaxies, nebulae and faint clusters it is the difference between a smudge and a shape. It is also longer and heavier, so it is less convenient to carry and to store.
Can I take photographs through it?
Photographs of the Moon and the bright planets with a phone work well. Long-exposure deep-sky astrophotography needs a mount that tracks the sky, which a manual Dobsonian does not do.
Does it need collimation?
Occasionally, yes - the mirrors shift slightly with travel and handling. It takes a few minutes once you have done it once, and the collimation guide in Support walks through it. If you would rather not, bring it to our workshop in Karachi.
How long does delivery take?
Each one is built to order rather than taken off a shelf. Allow about 30 days from the advance payment, and courier delivery after that.
Is it suitable for a school?
Yes. This is the aperture we recommend for a school astronomy club or an observing night: large enough that a queue of students each see something real, and simple enough that a teacher can run it without training.

The RV8-1200 is Telescopes.pk's 8-inch (203 mm) Newtonian reflector, designed by the Pakistan Science Club team and made in Pakistan. Its Dobsonian base needs no setup and no alignment: set it down, point it and look.
What you can see
- The Moon: craters, mountain ranges and the long shadows along the terminator, night after night in different light.
- Jupiter's cloud belts and its four brightest moons; Saturn's rings, with the Cassini division on a steady night; the phases of Venus; the polar cap on Mars near opposition.
- From darker skies: the Orion Nebula, globular clusters resolved into individual stars, and the brighter galaxies as shapes rather than smudges.
